Through tours, lectures and other educational projects, LaMikdash is bringing the Temple Mount back into the national conciousness of the Jewish people. The organization seeks to educate and energize the Jewish masses to reconnect with their holiest site by bringing them up to the Temple Mount itself.
Mitzvat Aseh of "Asu Li Mikdash"
Sh'mot (Exodus) 25:8 "Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.
This commandment is just as much a part of Judaism as keeping the Sabbath and not eating pork. It is binding upon every Jew in every generation. The statute of limititations has not run out on this mitzvah, nor has it been removed from our responsibility and assigned to the Messiah.
R' Acha, in the Talmud Yerushalmi (Maaser Sheni), specifically states that the Beit HaMikdash will be built before the reestablishment of the kingdom of David.
The Rambam lists it as number 20 in the list of positive commandments and quotes the verse above as his source.
